Katie moved to Truckee following her retirement in 2015 to find peace, healing and community in the mountains. She is a Professor Emeritus of Psychology from Palomar College where she taught for 25 years and spent another 5 years as a college administrator in the bay area. Passionate about the impact of quality food on both mental and physical health she sits on the board of Slow Food Lake Tahoe where she acts as the Director of the Truckee Demonstration Garden, spending each summer growing organic food for distribution to those in need. Katie also teaches Mindfulness Based-Stress Reduction and Mindful Self-Compassion classes and has taught for the hospital and it’s providers as well as bilingual classes in the Latinx community in North Tahoe. Katie is proud to serve on the board of Sierra Agape working to bring mental health services, in its many forms, to all.



Itzi has been actively involved in the Tahoe/Truckee community since moving here from the Bay Area in 2014. She has her MBA from UC Davis and served for years as the CFO of the Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation. She is currently still involved with TTCF’s Queen of Heart’s Women’s Fund volunteering as their Senior Gifts coordinator during the holidays, as well as volunteering at our local Emergency Warming Center. Itzi has a passion for holistic mental health and is pursuing studies to become a therapist in the future. She is excited to serve on the Board as Treasurer of Sierra Agape and continue to fuel her passions for mental health wellness and community service.
